Why Native?

In Ohio and Kentucky, native plants provide food and shelter for thousands of beneficial butterflies, bees, moths, birds, and other insects and wildlife. They support soil health and help protect against erosion. And because they’re adapted to the regional climate, native plants require fewer inputs (such as water, fertilizers, or pesticides), conserving natural resources relative to conventional landscapes.

Low-maintenance native landscapes also help homeowners save money, time, and energy. They draw people closer to nature by beautifying our outdoor living spaces and inviting friendly pollinators and wildlife into our yards.

Bottom line? Adding native plants to your landscape is one of the best things you can do to support local ecosystems while enjoying a beautiful outdoor living space.
